On 26 May 2014, the Bangladesh Delta Plan team gathered at the Conference Hall of the Planning Commission to formally meet the focal points of relevant Ministries. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Shamsul Alam, Member, GED, Planning Commission, who termed the BDP 2100 as a “mega project” in light of the duration of the plan and the impact it is going to have on the country. He also mentioned that, given the planning horizon of BDP 2100, this plan is first of its kind in Bangladesh. Following introductions and short presentations about the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 Formulation Project by Mr. Faizul Alam, Deputy Chief of GED, Planning Commission and the Deputy Project Director of BDP 2100, and Dr. Jaap De Heer, Team Leader of BDP 2100, the floor was made open for comments and discussion questions.
Representatives from the Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Ministry of Environment and Forest, Ministry of Water Resources, Bangladesh Water Development Board, Water Resources Planning Organization, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, Economic Relations Division, Department of Environment and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) participated in the meeting.
The technical assistance team comprising of members of CEGIS, IWM, Mott MacDonald, Twynstra Gudde, Deltares, Wageningen UR, Ecorys, Witteveen + Bos, Climate Adaptation Services, Unesco IHE, Defacto and other members of the Planning Commission were present and shared ideas with Ministry representatives over lunch.Leave a reply →
